If you haven’t clicked on the “Nassau-e” link on this webpage, this might be a good time to take a look.  Nassau-e is a portal to electronic resources offered to our patrons through the Nassau Library System.   For example, one link in the section for job-seekers takes you to a NYS Dept. of Labor job site with links to listings of job openings throughout New York State.   If you are job-hunting, we also have a Job and Career section in the adult reference area that we hope can help you in your search.

October 29: Shed the Meds, Cell Phones for Soldiers

Senator Fuschillo is sponsoring two important programs on Saturday, October 29 at the Bellmore Train Station: Shed the Meds and Cell Phones for Soldiers. From 9am – 12pm, you may safely dispose of your old medication and cell phones at the northwest corner of Sunrise Highway and Centre Avenue.

Shed the Meds: If you have any old, expired or unwanted medications, you may drop them off to be safely disposed of by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Cell Phones for Soldiers: This program will provide calling cards to the men and women serving overseas. You may drop off your old cell phones, which will be sent to ReCellular, a company that will safely discard your unwanted hand-held phones. ReCellular will make a monetary donation to “Cell Phones for Soldiers” for each cell phone donated.
