How to use this website

Welcome to The Bellmore Memorial Library’s website.  On this page we hope to give you an overview of what is available  from home through the site.  Think of it as an extension of the building-you have access to reference assistance and materials, you can browse through the online catalog and reserve books, music, movies and books on tape and CD.  You can download e-books and audio books through Nassau’s Digital Doorway, and see what programs we have coming up by looking at the online version of the newsletter that is sent to your home.  So, let us just give you a quick tour on HOW to do all this!

This website is a WordPress blog.  New posts appear in the middle of your monitor.  Directly below Bellmore Memorial Library on the index page are links to the main pages of the site:

About Us-takes you to the page with our phone number, hours, directions, and a link to the administration information page.
BML Online-takes you to the database page.  This has links to all the research and information subscription databases to which the Library subscribes.  As we develop the site, it will also have links to free sites that we think are the very best in their particular sphere.
Kids links to the BML Chidren’s page, which has program information and links to databases geared toward children.
Programs is simply posts about upcoming programs.
Teens takes you to a page with posts about teen-related events, and on the top of the page is a link to the Teen Blog, which contains all our online information for teens.

On the right, next to the blog posts, is a section with a search box for the library system’s online catalog.  Search for items you want, and or use the link below to go to your own account.  If you do not already have an account, you can create one here. You can see what items you have checked out on your card, what requests are ready for pick-up or are still outstanding, freeze requests and, if you wish, enable your reading history to keep track of items you have borrowed.

Below that are links to the 24-hour library:  Nassau-e, Mango Learning, Live Librarian and Homework Help as well as a list of the newly-purchased DVDs and information about our museum pass program.   Finally, there is a box that you can use to search the site.

Our goal was to create a website that was clear and easy to understand, as well as being easy to maintain.  On many posts, comments are enabled, and we would love to hear what you have to say.  There is much more to explore, so please, take a look.
