Thank you to everyone who stopped by our 
table at the Bellmore Street Fair! We 
enjoyed meeting all of you, and to those of 
you who registered for cards that day, 
WELCOME! Raffle tickets were collected, 
free canvas totes were given away, and 
happy children (teens too!) walked away 
with their faces painted. Congratulations to 
our raffle prize winners!

CONTESTCONTESTCONTEST 

In the month of August, we took part in 
the Frommer’s 2011 Library Display 
Contest. This national competition asked 
libraries to create a display that answered 
the question, “How do you travel with 
Frommer’s?” Each display had to be up for 
two weeks over the summer . 

 

Initially, we were chosen by Wiley Library 
as Finalist #2 out of the entire country, 
but the rest was up to Facebook voters to 
decide who had the best display. We came 
in third place, winning 50 free travel 
guides!

DECEMBER 

 

We, 12/7 Duct Tape Wallet (+ more) Craft. Limit: 10. 
FREE. 7-8pm. Presented by our Teen Advisory Group. 
Registrants should bring 1 roll of duct tape (color or 
pattern of choice). 

 

Sat, 12/17 December Chocolate House Factory, with 
Mrs. G. Limit: 12. Fee: $7. 2:30-4pm (Registration begins 
11/21). Everyone will assemble a small chocolate house 
(approx. 1 lb), then decorate with candies, wrap with 
cellophane and ribbons. A great centerpiece for your 
holiday table, or gift for a special person! 

 

Th, 12/22 Making Origami Decorations. Limit: 15 
teens and adults. FREE. 6:30-7:30pm. Origami teacher 
Victoria Sacks returns to teach you how to make 3-4 
ornaments to decorate your home. 

 

Tu, 12/27 Game Afternoon for Teens. Limit: 20. 
FREE. 2-3:30pm. Video games, board games and more! 

 

JANUARY 

 

We, 1/4 Video Editing and Posting to YouTube. 
Limit: 24 teens and adults. Fee: $5. 7-9pm. 

 

Tu, 1/17 Teen Babysitting/First Aid Workshop, with 
RNs JoAnne Tanck and Georgette Basso. Limit: 30. 
Fee: $3. 6-8pm. All guys and girls in grades 5-12 interested 
in babysitting, child care, and mother’s helper work are 
invited to come learn first aid and babysitting safety as well 
as successful babysitting techniques and age-appropriate 
activities. Bring a large (cabbage-patch size) doll or stuffed 
animal. You will receive a certificate and invitation to our 
babysitters job fair on Wednesday, 1/18. 

 

We, 1/18 Babysitters Job Fair. FREE. 7-7:30pm. 
Reception for parents of young children and our 
babysitters who have completed the BML course. Bring 
your business cards, a pencil and paper, and meet some 
great families looking for a sitter. 

 

Tu, 1/24 Movie Night for Teens. Limit: 15. FREE. 
6:30-8:45pm. Movie title, TBA. 

 

 

FEBRUARY 

 

Tu, 2/7 Make a Graffiti Cake! Limit: 24. 
Nonrefundable fee: $3. 7-8pm. Get creative and cover a 7” 
cake with butter cream frosting, then decorate using edible 
“spray paint.” Take your customized cake home to enjoy 
with the family, or by yourself! 

 

Fr, 2/10 Cards for Veterans. FREE. 4-5pm. Stop by 
the library and make a colorful valentine to be sent to the 
Northport VA Hospital. Everyone is welcome to come! 
We’ll have art supplies. (Community service credit for TAG 
members awarded if requested). 

 

Mo, 2/13 February Chocolate Factory. Limit: 12. 
Fee: $2. 6:30-7:30pm. Make molded, dipped, and shaped 
candies for February holidays, then box and tie with 
ribbons to take home.
